Becoming a Crime Scene Investigator requires pursuing formal education in the field of criminal justice. Students can pursue different degrees and get a job/career accordingly. The certificate in crime scene technology is a one year program, the associate’s degree in criminal investigation is a two year degree program and the bachelors in criminology/criminal justice requires four years for degree completion to be followed by another two years for the graduate program in criminal justice with your chosen field of specialization to become a crime scene investigator.
