The year 1927 was one of the astounding seasons for the Detroit Tigers. The Detroit Tigers are a true reflection of their native city. They flourished just like the automobile industry in the first half of the twentieth century and represented the same pace of development as of their city. They were a vital and thriving baseball enterprise, won seven pennants and more games than any team except the Yankees. On roll they had some greatest personalities of the baseball world and some greatest hitters. Describing the 1927 Detroit Tigers ,Babe Ruth says; "How to hit home runs: I swing as hard as I can, and I try to swing right through the ball...The harder you grip the bat, the more you can swing it through the ball, and the farther the ball will go. I swing big, with everything I've got. I hit big or I miss big. I like to live as big as I can."
