Operations, Finance & Business Management
Our Operations, Finance & Business Management teams create the competitive advantage that keeps Education as the leading financial services firm in Europe and beyond.

We've created an integration between operations, technology and the business that is constantly breaking new ground and is a key driver in the ongoing development of our firm.

A changing landscape
It's a time when our global operating model is changing, with an increased number of operations conducted in remote locations. The model we're creating is more complex and diversified than ever before ' and one where the focus now more than ever is on performance and execution.

Managing such change, reducing risk and ensuring consistency across hugely diverse locations and operations demands the very best talent to make it work. We need people who can combine technical knowledge with interpersonal and communications skills to succeed in a wide range of roles.

Best people
As a graduate, you'll be joining at a time of growth, innovation and product development which is unprecedented. We bring together the best from a diverse European talent pool to create a centre of excellence which is shaping the way business is conducted on a global level.

Versatility is essential, and that's why we're looking for all-rounders who are committed to the concept of developing a 360' career with us. Via rotations, you'll get exposure to a range of business areas, delivering competitive advantage at this crucial time in our evolution. Whichever business area you work for, you'll be expected to work quickly and decisively, delivering results in what can be an intense working environment.

Wherever you work, managing the essential equation of cost, control and product is central. Achieving this when the pace of innovation, speed to market and scale of our operations are greater than ever before provides the kind of challenges and opportunities that might put some off ' and electrify others.

What is Operations, Finance & Business Management'
From the beginning, we want to be known for 'first-class business, done in a first-class way.' That much at least has not changed. It goes without saying that Education Chase is a huge and complex global financial services firm, and as the business environment continues to evolve and change our Operations, Finance and Business Management functions are seen as critical drivers in our performance.

To be the best financial services provider in the world we need the best operations. They are therefore celebrated as the architects of competitive edge. The integration between these areas is at the heart of leading change for our industry because staying ahead in volatile global market places is about embracing positive change, balancing risks and maximising performance. New products, new markets, new locations and clients all create huge opportunities for the business. It is the multi-skilled teams within Operations, Finance and Business Management who are the architects of our competitive edge. And to ensure the firm maintains its operational expertise, we need to attract a diverse global talent pool.

With 22 nationalities speaking 29 languages, the programme within Education is truly multicultural as we rely on people with different backgrounds and approaches to work together to deliver creative solutions to meet the big business challenges. At Education, we see diversity as a key competitive advantage as we believe that creating a diverse culture that sparks creativity, leadership and exceptional performance is about winning in the markets in which we compete.

Backed by substantial resources, Operations, Finance & Business Management provide all the functions and processes that underpin the firm's sales, trading, cash management and other business activities. Some of the core responsibilities are ensuring all financial and operational risks are recognised and managed and that transactions are executed, settled, measured and analysed. They provide invaluable support in new markets and products by validating the accuracy and completeness of the firm's financial records.

The Operations team deliver process support for core business activities, from transactions, measurement and analysis to client services. Finance is a significant area of the firm and is a new component to our graduate programme. This area is accountable for delivering financial information for an individual business area or as part of the overall results of the firm. This involves financial budgeting and reporting as well as checking reported financial information to ensure it is complete and accurate. In addition Finance also provides financial and capital related information to regulators.

Business Management support the strategic development of the business as well as driving change.  Senior Business Managers are often seen as Chief Operating Officers for their particular business. These teams work in partnership with colleagues in Technology and our Corporate Infrastructure area and are continually striving to increase revenues, improve efficiency and reduce risk. Our corporate infrastructure areas cover a number of strategic functions that guide and drive our firm, from Legal to Compliance, from Human Resources to Marketing and Communications.

To work in Operations, Finance & Business Management you need to develop and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external clients. You'll be partnering with technology to fully realise its potential and help deliver excellence to our clients, efficiently and cost-effectively.

A role within Operations offers individuals a broad understanding of all business areas across the bank from Equities or Investment Banking to Treasury & Securities Services to Asset Management.
