Character Education

Science and technology has played a pivotal part in providing advanced and state of the art facilities to the education sector. Students now have tools and applications that allow for faster connectivity to resources and ample storage of information to complete tasks, homework and even PHD thesis. The education sector has also generated thousands of astonishing scientists, distinct doctors and an array of specialists in specific fields of study.
Irrespective of the large number of human assets available in the annals of history, an alarming large number of violence cases, crimes, disobedience scenes and devastating acts of abuse has been recorded. And this number is on the rise. People of all ages are still abusing the norms of society and are lacking the basic character building ingredients. Without sound character education in the society, abnormal and insane behavior will take place and provide a threat to society. It is critical that character building improves the overall social norms required per specific societies. Recent studies and research prove that there has been a drastic "moral decline" in the United States. The overall increase of violent movies, drastic video games, easily availability of guns have all added to the muddy situation that societies are in. another alarming aspect is the readily available access to topics and videos regarding crime. This trend has changed the entire mindset of the millions of children of this generation. Modern day children find solutions to most of their problems through an internet search. They just do not see the need to seek the advice of elders and experienced people, and do not have faith in the concept of absolute truth. As a result, they conclude that whatever works for them is right and whatever does not work for them is wrong. This mentality gives birth to crimes that have no jurisdictions and values.
Other kind of crimes that originate due to lack of character education is disregard for elders, early indulgence in sexual activities, abortions and rape. Suicide attempts and drug abuse become a more prevailing perspective in the society. All of these alluding factors cement the requirement to have a robust and effective character education in the class rooms. Leaders of great times and eras need to be used as models and their methodology preached vigorously in the class rooms. Living legends of societies should be requested to visit schools and colleges and endorse leadership rules of engagement. A very effective means is also to use the retired people who have influenced the societies to visit and communicate their perspective of leadership and character building. It is critical that students have a tendency to believe in the people that they can relate to and comprehend.
Another useful criterion that is used in character education classes is to reward quality and ownership of life. The society in general is required to respect and honor children that can speak the language of decency and character. Children that work accordingly to ethics are to be used as role models for others to follow.
