BERGEN COMMUNITY COLLEGE
  • General.        Bergen Community College (BCC, www.bergen.edu) is an accredited, co-educational, two-year, public community college located in Bergen County, New Jersey with its primary campus in Paramus. It offers challenging programs in a wide range of subjects that is likely to lay the foundation for the secure future of any student. It also provides opportunities for personal and intellectual growth preparing students for further educational pursuits, or a new career. Its state of the art technology makes possible distant education through Online and Hybrid education.
  • Certification / Accreditation.        Bergen Community College is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The different courses and programs of the college are accredited / approved by various authorities as under :-
  1. Individual programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs; the National League for Nursing; the American Dental Association; the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiological Technology; The National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Services; and the American Physical Therapy Association.
  2. The Paralegal Studies Program and the Legal Nurse Consultant Program are approved by the American Bar Association
  • Past and Present.   The college was built on 9 holes of the Orchard Hills Golf Course in 1965 and it was opened for enrollment in 1968. Today BCC enrolls more than 15,000 students in Associate's degree programs as well as certificate programs towards Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science, besides another 10,000 students who are enrolled in non-credit, professional development courses through the Division of Continuing Education. Another sub Division of BCC, The Philip J. Ciarco Learning Center in Hackensack, offers adult basic skills, English as a Second Language, non-credit, and credit courses. Most recently, establishment of the Center for the Study of Intercultural Understanding under the dynamic leadership of current president of Bergen Community College, Dr. G. Jeremiah Ryan is a lasting memorial that would rejuvenate its long standing commitment to institutional multiplicity.
  • Easy Access to Education.         Bergen Community College has implemented state of the art technology allowing online registration of students, deciding courses, paying bills and research through its huge online library. BCC offers a wide range of online and hybrid courses making it within the easy reach of everyone.
  • Continuing Education.     The Division of Continuing Education is the consumer arm of Bergen Community College.  The Division emphasizes economic development through job training and career improvement. Through its innovative and diverse programs and by providing qualified instructors with real world experience, BCC helps students meet the learning needs of an ever changing community. The Division also serves as a testing ground for new programs in affiliation with associate degree programs.
  • Student Life.            Bergen's campus life is rich with a variety of student activities, clubs and organizations that augment the college experience. Students are encouraged to participate in student government, clubs, student publications and athletics. The Student Center office invites and encourages students to take advantage of the variety of college events and organizations which definitely boost the educational experience.
  • Sports.          BCC is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association in Region XIX (New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania) and of the Garden State Athletic Conference. The college colors are violet, orange and white. Bergen Community College sports teams are nicknamed the Bulldogs. The college offers 12 sport teams to the appropriate student.
